What You Need to Know About Your Nissan Key Fob
Perhaps you've lost the Nissan key fob, or it has stopped functioning. Before you panic or contact the dealer, go back and look at where you last used it.
It's not that difficult to replace the battery on your Nissan key fob. You'll soon get the hang of it.

Smart keys function wirelessly unlike the previous models which required you to insert the key into the ignition slot in order to access your vehicle's internal systems. Intelligent Key Fob
With a Nissan Intelligent Key Fob, you can unlock the doors of your car and start its engine with a click of the button. It also allows you to activate a set of presets to cater to your preferences, like setting the mirrors and seats for maximum comfort. You can even control the music through your smartphone, ensuring that you'll never have to leave your vehicle.
Intelligent Key Fob have a built-in antenna, which transmits signals when you come close to your vehicle or press one of its buttons. When your vehicle receives this signal, it activates the system, unlocking doors or locking them, starting the engine, and then opening the trunk. If you want to test out the fob, stand a distance from your vehicle and click the buttons. If the lights flash or the horn sounds sound, you have successfully programmed the Intelligent Key Fob.
Batteries are needed to operate Intelligent Key Fobs. If they run out, our Parts Department can help you replace it quickly and easily. To do this, take out the key that is hidden and then open the battery compartment of your key fob. Replace the battery with a new one after taking out the old one. Assure that the positive side of the new battery is facing in the same direction it did with the original one. Finally, close the battery compartment and return the key to its hidden location within the case.
Remote Start
Nissan remote start allows drivers to heat or cool their vehicles from outside as long as they are within the operating range. The car's ignition is activated when a driver presses a button on the key fob or smartphone app. Remote start systems can also turn on the climate control so that the driver can choose their preferred temperature. Some systems have two-way communication that allows the driver to see what is happening in their vehicle.
Battery power is the most common reason behind your remote not working. The key fob runs on a small, replaceable battery that lasts for about two years before it needs to be replaced. Changing the battery is an easy process, however you'll have to know the location of the key hidden on your Intelligent Key fob and how to access the battery compartment.
To do so switch your fob on its side and press the key release latch on the back of the keypad. Once the keypad has been opened remove the batteries and replace them with fresh ones. Make sure the new battery is of the same size and configuration as the old one. Before closing the case's outer, ensure that the hidden button is inserted and the key fob is reassembled correctly. Lockout Protection
Lockout protection eliminates nuisance lockouts caused due to impedance relay malfunction. A specific module within the power control unit checks for the activity of the impedance relay and then shuts down the output. This option is only available to vehicles with the Smart Key system or through the personalization menu for the vehicle.
Many serious accidents have occurred because a machine was turned on when it should have been completely shut off to repair or maintenance. These incidents are usually caused by stored energy that isn't properly released. Lock-out-tag-out (LOTO), which ensures that machines are shut off until an authorized person releases them, helps prevent these incidents.
The LOTO system is comprised of a variety of locks tags, locks, and other equipment that are used to isolate, secure or block the device from electrical power. All "affected", "authorized" and "qualified" personnel must be instructed on the use of lockout/tagout devices. These devices include, but aren't limited, to locks, chains and padlocks. Each device is unique and labelled, including the date and time at which it was used, the name and title of the person who is authorized and the reason for the lockout/tagout (repairs, maintenance and maintenance, etc.). It must be stated clearly that these devices are not able to be removed until a thorough LOTO procedure has been completed.
